Vanitas

So yesterday I handed in my Vanitas assignment. It was the first assignment for this year and was a short one at just 4 weeks long. Overall I was pretty pleased with what i handed in and my final images.

These are the final images i used and i'm fairly pleased with them.

So now it's onto my next two briefs. I need to get some ideas for them and get shooting.

Cycle City

For the short assignment I was given, I chose to do 'Cycle City'. While doing this assignment i found it quite hard finding interesting ways of shooting people riding bikes.

I decided to approach it in a different way and photograph fastened up bikes. I tried to take quite a simple approach but make the images interesting at the same time.

First Short Assignment.

So during the course of the year I shall be set short assignments alongside my main assignments, to generally improve my photography. On Thursday I was given my first short assignment which is due in on Wednesday. For this short assignment I had to choose between 'Hull Fashion', 'Cycle City', '5 Seconds' and 'Close Up'.

Up until today I couldn't really decide which to do as my first assignment. During this afternoon's lecture I saw an image which really stood out to me.

This is a photo taken by Cartier Bresson and as soon as I saw it, it just stood out to me. After seeing this photo I think I haven chosen to do 'Cycle City' for my first short assignment. For this task I have to take 5 images that illustrate urban cycling.

I think I might struggle to complete this assignment though as I'm at work all weekend and also have other work to complete. I shall try my best though.
